I am a ceramic artist living in Sydney Australia. I was born and spent my early life in Zimbabwe where I was lucky enough to have an amazing family who nurtured and encouraged my creativity. It was here that I was exposed to many of the ideas which now form the basis of what I make. Both hand stitching and ceramics were practiced by my Mum and by previous generations of my family. I was surrounded by lovingly made, beautiful objects which have informed my aesthetic and inspired me to continue to make things which honour my memories of home being a place of both love and beauty.
When I finished school I studied Fine Art at the University of Cape Town , majoring in print making and I then went on to do a foundation course in ceramics through a community college London. After moving to Australia in 2001 I continued to learn about ceramics through Tafe while juggling motherhood and settling into a new country. I have since completed a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in ceramics through Tafe and for the last few years have been working from my studio at home in Turramurra.
I strive to make ceramic pieces that will enrich everyday life and that will bring people together to share in the joy of eating and drinking from a handcrafted item.
