Clare Unger
Zimbabwean born ceramic artist Clare Unger, who has lived in Sydney for over 20 years, integrates hand stitching into her ceramic process to create the subtle yet rich surfaces on her functional ceramic pieces. Clare has been inspired by a collection of familial textiles, inherited from her mother, in which simple stitches are used as a creative and innovative form of mark making. The same simple stitches found in her textile collection are used to make the intricate patterns which decorate the surface of her work thereby connecting her to her family and to memories of her childhood home.
(*Please note all of Clare's work in this exhibition will only be available from the gallery)
Kobie Bosch
Kobie Bosch is a South African born painter who has been living in Sydney for close to two decades. Her work reveals a fascination with both pattern and place: how to integrate the external natural world of birds and flowers inside our homes remains at the centre of her work. She does so using colourful patterns, peppering the rich compositions with detail and energy. Bosch creates on her canvases places of beauty, boundless imagination and bold playfulness.
